THE WEAPONS OF YOUR WARFARE

THE WEAPONS OF YOUR WARFARE

For though we walk in the flesh [as mortal men], we are not carrying on our [spiritual] warfare according to the flesh and using the weapons of man. The weapons of our warfare are not physical [weapons of flesh and blood]. Our weapons are divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses.

2 Corinthians 10:3-4

Think about this, when soldiers go to war, it is a) for a reason or cause bigger than themselves, b) requires knowledge and ability of their role in the war, c) requires the help and reliance of others, and d) requires the right weapons along with the ability to use them.

When it comes to the people of the Kingdom of God, you too, have a responsibility to join in and participate in the war against light and darkness. You have a reason—a cause, and that is to help bring people, your students and colleagues, who are hurting, lost, and dying into the light of Jesus Christ. Once you choose Christ, you are enlisted to promote the way of God’s Kingdom, His way of doing things right.

You must have knowledge of God (the Lord of Hosts), your role, and what you are supposed to do in order to win. There are no “One man” armies in God’s Kingdom. God has placed in each person, treasure that is needed to come out of the war victoriously. Better said, you need other believers to win this war.

Your weapons for the war you are in are not physical, because the battle you’re in is not physical, but spiritual. Just like soldiers must be trained in their weapons and how to use them, you too, have to be trained.

Below, are scripture references of who your trainers are and how they help you win each battle (Unless noted, each scripture is from the AMP Bible):

GOD

Ephesians 6:11 Put on the full armor of God [for His precepts are like the splendid armor of a heavily-armed soldier], so that you may be able to [successfully] stand up against all the schemes and the strategies and the deceits of the devil.

THE LORD

Psalm 144:1 Blessed be the LORD, my Rock and my great strength, who trains my hands for war and my fingers for battle;

Isaiah 41:13 “For I the LORD your God keep hold of your right hand; [I am the Lord], Who says to you, ‘Do not fear, I will help you.’

Psalm 3:8 (NLT) Victory comes from you, O LORD. May you bless your people.

THE HOLY SPIRIT

John 14:26 But the Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you all things. And He will help you remember everything that I have told you.

THE 5-FOLD GIFTS

Ephesians 4:11 And [His gifts to the church were varied and] He Himself appointed some as apostles [special messengers, representatives], some as prophets [who speak a new message from God to the people], some as evangelists [who spread the good news of salvation], and some as pastors and teachers [to shepherd and guide and instruct]

Unlike the natural, where for the most part, wars begin and end, or even have breaks in between, in the spiritual realm, there are no breaks, the devil is always on his job, looking for whom he may devour.

But God has given you weapons to ensure your victory. Let’s look at a few of them:

  • Praise-Let the high praises of God be in their throats, And a two-edged sword in their hands, (Psalm 149:6).
  • Prayer-Therefore, confess your sins to one another [your false steps, your offenses], and pray for one another, that you may be healed and restored. The heartfelt and persistent prayer of a righteous man (believer) is able to accomplish much [when put into action and made effective by God—it is dynamic and can have tremendous power] (James 5:16).
  • The Word- For the word of God is living and active and full of power [making it operative, energizing, and effective]. It is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating as far as the division of the soul and spirit [the completeness of a person], and of both joints and marrow [the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and judging the very thoughts and intentions of the heart (Hebrews 4:12).
  • Wisdom- Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might; for there is no activity or planning or knowledge or wisdom in Sheol (the nether world, the place of the dead) where you are going (Ecclesiastes 9:18).
  • Humility- So submit to [the authority of] God. Resist the devil [stand firm against him] and he will flee from you. Humble yourselves [with an attitude of repentance and insignificance] in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you [He will lift you up, He will give you purpose] (James 4:7,10).
  • Decreeing- “You will also decide and decree a thing, and it will be established for you; And the light [of God’s favor] will shine upon your ways (Job 22:28).

The weapon of your warfare are quite unique, they do not rely on your strength, rather the weapons, as well as your armor requires your total reliance on God.

Notice each of the verses, they have 1 thing in common, the weapons and armor for warfare, have everything to do with God, and you looking to Him for truth, using His Word as a sword to wield against the enemy. God has set you up to overcome any obstacle you face, as you rely on Him.

Choose a scripture to meditate on and ask God to reveal to you how He wants you to use it in this season of your life.
