If you watch the news, peruse social media, or listen to the radio, you’re constantly bombarded with commercials, facts, lies, and stories to get you to focus on how they want you to see things.
These constant images being cast have an effect on how you see. It affects how you see the world, family and friends, life, yourself, and God.
When you came to the place where you need to make a decision, you have to do something, and the first thing is to lay aside the distractions of televison, social media, radio, and any other voices other than God. Turn them off because you want to see and hear clearly, that you may make the right decision.
Decisions, good or bad can affect you and those involved many years. You don’t want to regret the decisions you make
You don’t have time to waste, you need all the time God has for you on Earth.
As a believer and follower of Christ, you have an advantage. You serve a God who wants to give you a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11). God cannot lie (Numbers 23:19). Know that you can come to God and cast your cares upon Him, for He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7).
Below are some steps you can take, when you don’t know what to do. Pray and ask God to help you see and hear, that you may know the right thing to do:
- Be still and know. When decisions need to be made, the pressure comes to hurry and decide, which can be a trap.
- Draw near to God. Move away from distractions, including family and coworkers. Set aside some time with the One who knows what to do and wants to help you.
Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded (James 4:8). - Pray. Cast all your cares on Him.
Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you (1 Peter 5:7)
- Do what you know to do.
But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it (2 Timothy 3:14)
- Be patient and wait.
I wait for the LORD, my whole being waits, and in his word I put my hope(Psalm 130:5)
- Seek wisdom. Godly wisdom.
Get wisdom, get understanding; do not forget my words or turn away from them (Proverbs 4:5)
- Remember the character of God. In the rush to make a decision, the pressure to forget that God never changes. Hold on to His character, God is ever faithful.
If we are faithless, he remains faithful, for he cannot disown himself (2 Timothy 2:13)
- Peace. If you are feeling uneasy or anxious about a decision, wait. God is never in chaos or fear.
You are not alone. No matter the situation or how you feel. God wants to help you and give you the right answer. He wants you to come to Him and wait for His response, the situation can always wait for God’s response. Turn to God and allow Him to help you, His way. You will not be disappointed.
